What do I need to bring (and not to bring) to my exam?

You will need to bring TWO (2) forms of identification to The Exam Centre.

ID Type 1: One MUST be a current, in-date, Government-Issued Photo ID, such as a valid Passport or Driver’s Licence or Public Service Card that contains a photo that looks like you and contains your signature.

ID Type 2: The second may be a signed Bank Card or Social Security Card. A National Identity Card IS acceptable for those who hold one provided that it is current.

Not Acceptable: Garda Age Cards, Utility Bills, Birth or Marriage Certificate are NOT acceptable forms of ID. 

Be sure the names on your ID’s are displayed the same way it is displayed on your exam record and that BOTH ID’s have a current signature that look like yours. Examples of other pieces of acceptable 2nd ID are Credit Cards and Debit Cards. A good and common combination of Proof of Identity is a Passport or Driving Licence (or both) and a SIGNED Debit / Credit card.

NOTE: The test will NOT be delivered without the appropriate form of identification. Please Note that specific ID's may only be acceptable for specific examinations. Please check your booking confirmation for this information. There is no exception or circumstance to this rule. Failure to produce the correct ID will be deemed a “No-Show” and you will forfeit your exam and your exam fee.

• large purses, bags or backpacks

The Exam Centre will provide everything needed for taking the exam. Please note if your Exam permits the use of a Calculator you will need to bring one with you. The Calculator must NOT be capable of storing data and will be inspected prior to being allowed to be used. No mobile phones or pagers are allowed in the test room. There are small lockable cabinets available for candidates to store keys, wallets and small purses/bags during the exam. There is no secure storage available for large books, bags, or large coats.

When do I need to arrive for my exam?

You should arrive at the testing centre at least 20 minutes before the test is scheduled to begin. Tests are given by appointment. If you have an appointment you can expect the centre to open at least 30 minutes before your appointment. It takes about 4-6 minutes per candidate to complete the sign-in process. If there are questions or disputes about your ID, your registration, any of the pretest qualifications, or if you are late, you will be asked to wait until other candidates are signed in. Don’t worry! Each test is individually timed; your test will not start until you are signed in and seated.

NOTE: If you arrive at The Exam Centre more than 15 minutes late for your appointment you may not be allowed to sit your exam. If you feel that you may be late for your appointment please contact The Exam Centre immediately on 01 685 4942. Please note that the exam duration may include an exam tutorial and survey.
